Our Story

It started on the dance floor

Alex and Elliot dancing

We met on the dance floor the first night of college; Elliot's takeaway was simple: that girl can dance. What followed was a year of crossing paths — a shared class, the same dorm, some personal coding lessons, and a bit of harmless flirtation — until friendship tipped into something more.

After college and two years of long distance between Texas and New York, we finally landed together in Pittsburgh for Alex's PhD program — a career move she never would have pursued without Elliot encouraging her every step of the way.

After a couple more years of laughter, cozy nights at home, numerous foster animals, and a move to Maryland for a new job, Elliot asked Alex to marry him in their first home, back in Pittsburgh, on a return trip for our 10-year anniversary (which was against the rule of "no proposing on a day that already means something to us").

Here we are eleven years in, and more than a handful of life-changing decisions later, we're still the same two people who met on a dance floor, just a whole lot more certain of what we found there. Now we get to say "I do," surrounded by everyone who watched us grow into the life we've built together.

we can't wait to see you there

Formal but danceable

Bring out the formalwear, but pick the version you can move in. Garden party meets evening soirée.

Good to Know

Outdoor Ceremony & Cocktail Hour

Grass-friendly shoes are a smart call. As Airlie in October has a way of turning crisp, a warmer layer won't go amiss.

Questions & answers

A few things guests often ask. Can't find what you're looking for? Reach out any time — we're always happy to help.

Are children invited?

We adore your little ones — we truly do — but we've chosen to make our wedding an adults-only celebration, so everyone can kick back, sip, and dance without a curfew. We hope you'll take it as a rare night off and celebrate right alongside us.

What's the dress code?

Formal, but danceable — garden party meets evening soirée. Bring out the good stuff, but pick the version you can move in. The ceremony and cocktail hour are on grass, so steer clear of thin heels, and an October evening at Airlie can turn crisp — a warm layer is a smart call.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and cocktail hour are outdoors in Airlie's gardens; dinner and dancing move indoors. We'll be watching the forecast and have a comfortable backup plan if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Where should we stay?

We've reserved room blocks at Airlie (right on the property) and the Hampton Inn & Suites Warrenton. Both blocks close September 20, 2026. Book through the links in the Travel section — they apply our group rate for you.

Is there a shuttle? What about parking?

A shuttle will run between the Hampton Inn and Airlie on Friday — pickup and return times are coming soon. If you're staying at Airlie, everything is a short walk, and there's parking on-site at the venue if you'd rather drive.

What time should I arrive?

Please plan to arrive by 3:40 PM on Friday so you're settled before the ceremony begins at 4:00. The full run of the day is in the Schedule.

Can I bring a guest?

Your RSVP will show exactly who's included in your invitation — when you look up your name to respond, any guest we've saved a seat for will be right there. If something looks off, just reach out and we'll sort it.

When do we need to RSVP by?

Kindly respond by September 15, 2026 — you can do it right here on this site. The sooner we hear from you, the better we can plan.
